Dilara Aktas
Registered Music Therapist
Dilara is a devoted Registered Music Therapist with a bachelor’s degree in piano jazz performance from the Australian Institute of Music and a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Western Sydney University. Dilara has also completed training in Neurologic Music Therapy through the Academy of NMT, showcasing her passion and dedication to enhancing her therapeutic skills. Dilara is committed to providing holistic care, valuing the importance of adapting techniques such as improvisation, NMT and drawing from a psychodynamic model. She believes this adaptability is crucial in cultivating positive therapeutic relationships by tailoring techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual client. Dilara’s previous work involves global experience in Canada, Australia, and volunteering across Europe, with particular focus on neurorehabilitation and the community disability sector at Holland Bloorview Children’s Hospital in Toronto. As well as early child development, disability, and mental health, within a multi and interdisciplinary context at Kayla’s Children Centre in Canada. Dilara prioritises cultural, gender and neurodiversity awareness, fostering a collaborative partnership with clients, caregivers, and families for truly inclusive care.
