If you’re a school leaver or young adult with disability looking to build practical job skills and confidence for the future, enrolments are now open for Term 4, 2026 in our Work Prep Connect and Career Explorer programs.

These hands-on programs are designed to help participants develop real-world workplace skills, explore employment pathways, and gain practical experience in a supportive environment. Whether you’re preparing for your first job or exploring different career options, these programs provide the guidance, structure, and opportunities needed to take the next step.

What Makes These Programs Different?

1. Practical Skills for Real-World Employment

Both programs focus on building key workplace skills that employers value, including:

  • Communication in the workplace
  • Time management and routines
  • Customer service
  • Money handling and point-of-sale systems
  • Basic food handling and hospitality tasks
  • Retail operations and stock processing
  • Workplace safety and expectations

Rather than learning through theory alone, participants develop these skills through hands-on experiences in real workplace settings that providie valuable practical learning opportunities.

2. Specialist Teaching and Support

Work Prep Connect runs two days per week across a 10-week term. One of these days is delivered with the support of a qualified TAFE teacher who brings industry experience in retail and hospitality.

Working alongside AASS staff, participants receive practical, targeted training that helps them develop workplace knowledge, independence, and confidence at a pace that suits their individual learning needs.

Both programs are delivered in a safe, structured, and supportive environment by experienced AASS staff who understand the importance of routine, clear communication, and personalised support. This approach helps participants build confidence while developing skills in a realistic work-like setting.
