Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and mentally demanding. That’s why it’s crucial for carers to take time for themselves. This is where the “Taking Care of Carers” event comes in, hosted by Wellways Carer Gateway.
The Details
This event will take place on Wednesday, April 15th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Holiday Inn Warwick Farm, NSW.
This special afternoon is dedicated to supporting carers in our community with an opportunity to relax & unwind.
Megan Waters, a passionate media presenter, fitness instructor, and breathwork facilitator, will be leading the event. As a proud Warumungu and Yawuru woman from Larrakia Country in Darwin, Megan has a deep understanding of the importance of looking after both physical and mental wellbeing. Her session will include practical self-care strategies, mindfulness practices, and ways to reconnect with the land and community. These tools can help carers manage their own wellbeing while continuing to provide the best care for others.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for carers to prioritize themselves and experience some well-deserved support. The session will also include afternoon tea, giving attendees a chance to relax and connect with others who share similar experiences.
Carer Gateway
For those who may not be aware, Carer Gateway is a national service funded by the Australian Government, providing support to carers across Australia. They offer a range of services designed to make caring easier, including advice, financial assistance, and respite care. In New South Wales, Wellways Australia provides Carer Gateway services, specifically supporting carers in the South West Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains regions. Click Here for more information on Carer Gateway Services.
As this event is hosted by Wellways Carer Gateway, Autism Advisory & Support Service is simply sharing this information with our followers and are not the point of contact for the event.
To register for this free event, RSVP is essential. You can secure your spot by visiting the Eventbrite Event Page or calling 1800 422 737.
Taking time for self-care is important, and this event offers a chance for carers to step back, relax, and recharge.
