Go4Fun is a free and engaging program designed for children aged 7 to 13 in New South Wales who are above a healthy weight. It offers a lively approach to gaining insights into healthier living. The initiative centers around fostering positive changes within families, promoting wholesome eating habits, encouraging physical activity, and enhancing children’s self-esteem. The best part is that participation is entirely cost-free.
Dedicating only two hours weekly during school terms Go4Fun activities occur during school terms, typically after regular school hours. Qualified healthcare experts, including dietitians and exercise physiologists, lead the program.
The sessions are scheduled once a week for a span of ten weeks. In the first hour, both children and adults receive education on adopting nutritious eating practices for the entire family. During the second hour, children engage in game-oriented activities, while the adults delve into discussions on implementing improved health strategies at home.
As Go4Fun emphasizes family involvement, it necessitates the presence of a parent or caregiver at every session. However, if attendance becomes challenging, alternate family members such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, or adult siblings can step in.
