Disability Advocacy Futures Program

Who are PWDA?
People with Disability Australia (PWDA) is a national disability rights, advocacy and representative organisation. They are made up of, led and governed by people with disability. They provide all people with disability with a voice of their own. They are a non-profit, non-government organisation, and work across Australia. They also represent people with disability at the United Nations in relation to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
What is the Disability Advocacy Futures Program?
Through the Disability Advocacy Futures Program, PWDA provide individual advocacy services assisting people with disability in NSW.
The Program is funded by the NSW Government to help people with disability in NSW to access NSW Government funded and delivered services.

Are you a student living with disability?
Do you live in and around southeast, southwest or central Sydney?
Do you currently study in one of the public schools or are a parent/guardian of a student with disability from the above regions of NSW?
Could you benefit from some help to access or navigate the NSW public education system or access NSW Government-funded services?

The Staff at People with Disability Australia can help you with
Information & Referrals
• Your rights as a student with disability.
• What specific help the school should provide to students with disability while in the school.
• Connecting you to other services that can help.
Advocacy
• Help access and talk to the school system.
• Help prepare letters and applications to the schools.
• Assist you raise concerns with schools and the Department of Education where appropriate.
