The Power of Play: Supporting Children with Disabilities and Their Families

In the world of childhood, play isn’t just a pastime; it’s a vital avenue for learning, development, and joy. For children with disabilities or developmental delays, play takes on an even greater significance. It becomes a gateway to exploration, communication, and growth. However, for their parents and carers, fostering play in these children can often come with unique challenges. This is where supported playgroups step in, offering a nurturing environment that not only benefits the child but also provides much-needed support for the entire family.

The PlayConnect+ playgroup is designed to support families with a child who has a disability, developmental delay or for those who have concerns regarding their child’s development. Children aged between 0 – 8 are eligible to attend and a formal diagnosis or referral is not required to attend.

Located in The Pipe Band Hall in Liverpool and meeting each Monday (during school term) from 10am – 11:30am this playgroup is a great resource for the community.

Autism Advisory & Support Service are not the point of contact for this playgroup. For more information please visit the Playgroup NSW Website
