What is the Work Prep Connect Program?
The 10 week Work Prep Connect Program provides students with valuable skills in retail and hospitality. Held at the Somewhere Nice op shop and caf̩, the program gives students practical experience in areas such as cash handling, organising, and customer service. These are skills that will help them throughout their working lives. There are no assessments & learners will receive a TAFE certificate of completion at the end of the program РParticipants must be 17+ and not enrolled in school.
Graduation
Tuesday, 3rd December, was a day to celebrate as the Work Prep Connect students graduated, coinciding with International Day of People with Disability. It was a wonderful occasion to recognise their hard work and the bright futures they are building.
Graduation day was a chance to applaud the students’ growth and achievements. Many started the program unsure of their abilities and have grown into confident and capable individuals ready to take on new challenges.
This year’s graduation was even more special as it took place on International Day of People with Disability. It was a reminder of the importance of creating opportunities where everyone can contribute and succeed.
The program helps students prepare for work and gives them the skills to take their first steps into employment. These skills will open doors and create opportunities for their future.
The celebration included speeches, the presentation of certificates, and smiles all around. It was a proud moment for the students, their families, TAFE teachers, supporters and us, the team at Autism Advisory & Support Service.
To the graduates: congratulations on your achievements. We are excited to see what you will do next and are proud to support you on your journey. Well done to the Work Prep Connect graduates of 2024!
