Endeavour Park Equestrian Centre have given us here at Autism Advisory & Support Service permission to share the following story on their amazing participant Bailey.
Bailey’s Journey at Endeavour Park Equestrian Centre
Bailey has been part of our Skill Development & Training Program at Endeavour Park Equestrian Centre for the past 9 months. As someone on the autism spectrum, Bailey has always had a deep love for horses, and through this personalised program, we’ve seen incredible growth in his skills and confidence.
With a tailored plan suited to his strengths and needs, Bailey has excelled in several key areas:
Time Management: Bailey has developed a strong sense of managing his time effectively, ensuring tasks are completed within set periods.
Independent Task Management: Under the watchful guidance of our staff, Bailey has learned to follow a detailed list of jobs that he completes independently, boosting his self-reliance and confidence.
Understanding Horse Behaviour: His natural connection with horses has deepened as he learned more about their behaviour, allowing him to interact with them safely and compassionately.
Horse Nutrition: Bailey has gained an in-depth understanding of horse nutrition, learning what it takes to maintain a horse’s health and wellbeing.
In addition to these achievements, Bailey has improved his communication skills, learned basic maintenance tasks, and contributed to paddock management.
Through obtaining these skills, Bailey has successfully secured a casual job at another horse property, where he now looks after horses, using the knowledge and experience he has gained through the program.
We are incredibly proud of Bailey’s dedication and progress, and we look forward to continuing his journey with us!
