Positive Partnerships is a national project funded by the Australian Government Department of Education. The service works in partnership with families, educators and communities to improve outcomes for autistic young people. It focuses on building connections and supporting inclusive environments where autistic students are included and able to participate meaningfully in school and community life.
It provides professional learning and practical resources through workshops, webinars and online modules for parents, carers and school staff. This helps build knowledge and confidence so families and educators can better understand autism and provide informed support and advocacy for autistic young people.
One such workshops is the upcoming free one-day workshop for parents, carers and grandparents of autistic school-aged children, which will be held in Liverpool, NSW.
The event will take place on Wednesday 16 September 2026 from 9:15am to 3:00pm at Liverpool Catholic Club, 424–458 Hoxton Park Road, Prestons NSW 2170. Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided. Interpreters can be arranged on request to support families who need language assistance.
This workshop is part of a national program funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and focuses on improving understanding of autism and school collaboration. Families attending will hear information presented in a structured format with opportunities for discussion and questions throughout the day.
Key topics include the diversity of autism, how sensory processing can affect daily life, and ways to work alongside schools to support a child’s learning and wellbeing. The content is aimed at helping families better understand how differences in communication, environment, and routine can impact participation at school and at home.
The session is open to parents, full time carers and grandparents. It may be particularly relevant for families who are navigating school transitions, recent diagnoses, or ongoing challenges related to sensory needs or behaviour support. The information is practical and focused on real school and home situations rather than theory.
