Coming Soon – The Baby Beats Program

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is a nationally recognised Allied Health service. It is an evidence- based practice provided by a Registered Music Therapist (RMT). The RMT will tailor interventions to each individual’s health and wellbeing needs, using musical experiences to support non-musical goals.

Autism Advisory & Support Service is lucky to have the very talented Music Therapist Netta Dor join the team and bring with her the Baby Beats Program.

What is the Baby Beats Program?

The Baby Beats Program is designed for infants up to 24 months. Netta focuses primarily on strengthening the bond between parent and infant through song, movement and play. Parents are supported with easy techniques that they can use at home and share with their extended family, as well as a community of other parents with whom they can share experiences.

Key Activities of the program include:

  • Activities that promote eye contact between parent and infant
  • Movement activities
  • Motor skills activities

Will I have to sing?

Research indicates that children are better at responding to those they are familiar with (i.e. family), compared with unfamiliar people. There’s also a lot of research that show that singing lowers stress, boosts your immune system, boosts your mood & fosters a sense of community. So, don’t be shy and please sing!
