In a world where communication is key, some children face significant barriers. For those with disabilities impacting speech and language development, expressing themselves can be a daunting challenge. However, there’s a remarkable tool that’s been transforming the lives of such children and their families: Keyword Sign. which is why, on Monday 27th May Autism Advisory & Support Service will be hosting the Getting Started with Key Word Sign Workshop.
What is Key Word Sign?
Key Word Sign (KWS) is a strategy that can be used to support individuals with communication difficulties to understand and get their message across to others.
What will I learn?
In this introductory key word sign workshop, you will learn the principles of KWS and gesture, who it can be used with and how it can be used alongside other ways of communicating. In the practical component of the course, will also learn up to 80 new signs along with common natural gestures, with opportunities to practice in a safe & fun group environment. You will leave the workshop with a detailed plan of the next steps in your KWS journey, as well as a host of helpful resources to support your learning.

Cost: $350 plus booking fee (NDIS claimable for self managed and plan managed participants).
