Community First Step (CFS) is a not-for-profit organisation offering a wide range of services including children’s services, disability services, community development, youth and family case management services. With a history that spans over 50 years, they aim to support and empower the communities of Southwest Sydney to overcome disadvantages and barriers to personal, social and economic growth by delivering inclusive and innovative services.
They are a growing community organisation that encompasses children, youth and family services in the form of case work, community development, disability services and children’s services. As a community partner, Community First Step work with the community, business and government, to strive for excellence in meeting the holistic needs of their clients through the provision of high quality supportive, recreational, cultural, sporting and welfare programs.
Community Services
Some supports that Community First Steps offer are:
- Employment Support
- Assistance navigating complex systems such as Centrelink and MyGov.
- Case Management
- Programs to develop skills and social networks.
- Assistance with referrals and accessing other services.
- Vocational training
- Emergency relief and food hampers (by appointment)
They also provide referrals for:
- Counselling Services
- Domestic Violence Services
- Employment Training Programs
- Meal Services
Supported Playgroups
Community First Steps also host various Supported Playgroups where you can meet other parents, learn parenting skills and bond with your child as they learn through play. These playgroups always have at least two qualified team members at each center at one time and are free of charge to Parents & Carers
