Toilet training, also known as potty training or toilet learning, is an essential milestone in a child’s development but it is not without its challenges. The process involves teaching young children to use the toilet for their bowel and bladder needs instead of relying on nappies or pull ups. While each child is unique and may have varying readiness levels, there are common challenges that parents and caregivers often encounter during toilet training.
One significant challenge is resistance or reluctance from the child. Some children may display a strong opposition to using the toilet or show anxiety and fear about the process. This resistance can stem from a variety of reasons, such as a fear of falling in, discomfort with unfamiliar surroundings, or a desire to maintain independence. Overcoming this challenge requires patience, understanding, and creating a positive and supportive environment that helps the child feel comfortable and secure.
If only there was a program parents could join to support them through this process… hang on, there is! Expressions of Interest for the next round of Lifestart’s very popular Toilet Training online group program are now open.
