Keeping Children Safe Online – Empowering Parents in the Digital Age

Raising children in today’s digital landscape can feel overwhelming. Between social media, online gaming, livestreaming, and constant connectivity, parents often struggle to understand what their children are really doing online and how to keep them safe. That’s why the upcoming Keeping Children Safe Online event is such an important opportunity for families.

This free online session, scheduled for Tuesday, 17 February 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, is designed specifically for parents and carers of children and young people. Hosted by Social Planning and Community Development, the webinar provides practical, easy‑to‑implement strategies to help parents navigate online risks while still supporting children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn.

A speaker from the Alannah & Madeline Foundation will guide participants through what children commonly do online, what dangers they may encounter, and how adults can provide safe, age‑appropriate digital freedom. The session covers core online safety issues including privacy, cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and digital wellbeing.

One of the event’s strengths is its balanced approach. Rather than focusing solely on dangers, it also explores the positive side of digital engagement… how the internet supports creativity, learning, and connection. This upskills parents to become confident digital mentors instead of feeling like constant gatekeepers.

Because places are limited, bookings are essential.
