Fairfield City Council is developing the Fairfield Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026 to 2030. This plan will guide how Council improves access and inclusion for people with disability across Fairfield City over the next five years.
Council wants feedback from people who live this every day. That includes people with disability, carers, families, service providers, and community members. The aim is to understand what is working, what is not, and where change is needed.
Disability inclusion affects daily life. It includes access to buildings, footpaths, transport, services, information, employment, and community spaces. When these things are not accessible, people are excluded. This consultation is a chance to point out barriers and suggest practical improvements.
Captivate Consulting has been engaged to run the consultation independently. Their role is to make sure people can share their views in ways that are accessible and comfortable.
There are several ways to get involved. Community members can take part in one on one interviews by phone, online, or in person where needed. There is also an accessible community survey available online and in hard copy. Focus groups will be held for people with disability, carers, and service providers, as well as a workshop for service providers and community members.
All feedback will be used to shape actions in the new Disability Inclusion Action Plan. The information shared will help guide future planning, services, and priorities across Fairfield City.
If you have experience with disability in Fairfield, your input matters. You do not need to have all the answers. Sharing your experience, even briefly, can help highlight issues that need attention.
Autism Advisory & Support Service are not involved or the point of contact for the Disability Inclusion Action Plan – however we encourage you to take part and share this opportunity with others. Many people do not always hear about consultations like this, and their voices are important.
To get involved, visit the Have Your Say Fairfield website or contact the Social Planning and Community Development team at Fairfield City Council for more information at scd@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au
Every contribution helps us build a Fairfield that is more accessible for you.
